The Guest smoked....now what?

Airbnb is very strict about no smoking and will charge guests for the damages they caused, it's actually a ban-able offense if they get two reported incidents but how do you prove a smell?

Airbnb or any OTA needs to see a combination of the following to be able to reimburse you for the damages

1. Photos of Ash
2. Photos of Joint Butts
3. Photos of Weed flower
4. Report from cleaning company with a written statement
5. Invoice for odor removal
6. Proof guest smoked outside the property on your property

When in doubt check the trash

Some of the places you will find evidence of smoking is in the trash or the drains, people love throwing away the butts inside the drains, you can also check around the property to find some as well, as long as you have photo proof of smoking took place you can submit a claim

What's the process?

Airbnb and VRBO review policy clearly state any retaliation reviews are banned and will be removed if reported, this might be helpful if your worried about submitted a damage claim if a guest smokes in the space....just saying

Make your claims don't be afraid, smoking in your space when not allowed is unacceptable over time if this happens enough you'll have to pay a company to clean all the walls, steam upholstery which will cost a pretty penny.
